⭐CARINGA SPARK RADIO ⭐ EPISODE #14⭐
For over 70 years, Caringa has been a cornerstone of our community, championing inclusivity and celebrating the diverse talents of people with disabilities. Caringa Spark Radio is our latest evolution, providing a space where authentic voices can be heard, stories can be shared, and myths about disability can be dispelled.
Every Thursday, from 8am, the Loving Life FM airwaves come alive with the energy & passion of our Caringa crew.
Whether you’re tuning in locally or listening via the FM103.1 app from afar, you’re in for a treat. Our programming is as diverse as our community, covering everything from upcoming events and programs to day-to-day life at Caringa, and very off-script honest conversations about lived experiences.
Leon caught up with Damo on Spark Radio last week as we prepped for our IDPwD event, and shared some words about the 2024 IDPwD.
International Day of People with Disabilities is a day that was first declared by the United Nations in 1992. It was followed by the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), adopted in 2006.
As a rights-based organisation, Caringa seeks to enliven the principles of the Convention and the rights of people with disability in all of our work.
This year’s theme for IDPwD is ‘Amplifying the leadership of persons with disabilities for an inclusive and sustainable future.
Caringa is committed to supporting and empowering the leadership of persons with disabilities and we have recently appointed a person with disability and Caringa client as a Director on our Board.
I hope you take a moment to learn more about the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the meaning of this International Day.
All the best,
Leon Ankersmit
