Caringa x Kubek: Sensory Clay Workshop

This Blog Post is brought to you by Josh for Caringa
29th August 2024

‘There is something very special about getting your hands dirty, getting lost in the process, creating something imperfect and truly unique’

The Caringa Community were very happy to host Kasia, the founder of Kubek at Spark Studio in August.

Kasia worked with the Castle Hub Community Centre, & our SPROUT.ED Program to host a Sensory Clay Workshop here in Grafton the Caringa space.

Thank you to Kasia for a wonderful morning, and her guidance and skills with the Community.

We were so excited to receive our fired pieces in the post this week, and couldn’t wait to share them with the team across the office spaces. Happily, they all arrived safe and sound, wrapped up with love AND newspaper to keep them safe in transit back to Caringa.

In this workshop, we celebrated the joy of being OURSELVES—exploring, feeling, creating, and revelling in the freedom to make a mess and create something beautiful!

The feeling of clay. sensory engagement combined with the freedom of free play, provides therapeutic benefits for the nervous system.

Clay play can work to enhance motor skills, encourage self-expression, and foster a sense of accomplishment, promoting both physical and emotional well-being.

Across the Workshop, our Caringa Community experienced:

– interesting facts about clay

– wet clay sensory play

– dry clay sensory station

– fine-motor skills/sensory clay games

– carving in a big block of leather hard clay

– playing with ceramics sensory toys

– free play and self-guided exploration

Leave us a comment if you would like us to have another Sensory Clay Workshop, and let us know where on the Coffs or Clarence Coast we should pop up!
