Leon Ankersmit!

Leon will be joining our team from Monday 24th July 2023 as our Chief Executive Officer. We are looking forward to introducing you to Leon more over the next few weeks but in the meantime, get to know a little about him below:

What excited you about joining the Caringa Australia team?

I am excited to return to the field that shaped my early career when I was involved in much innovative and values-based work with people with disability. To now provide leadership along with the strong team at Caringa leaves me very optimistic for what we can achieve together in the years ahead. 

What is your favourite aspect of living in the Clarence Valley?

My heritage is Dutch, and my family history is strongly inked to the river shipping industry of Europe. So my daily connection with the Clarence River, as I drive along it and cross it by ferry or bridge is quite sentimental for me. 

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I am a massive jazz nerd and I love to waste hours by listening to weird and wonderful compositions. Sometimes I like to exercise or cook while I’m listening to music!
